The Cymbidium’s name comes from the Latin word cymba, which means “boat”, referring to the shape of its lips. There is evidence that they were grown in China some 2,500 years ago, making them the earliest cultivated orchid. Confucius even wrote about them in his classic “The Book of Songs”, calling them the “King of Fragrance”.
