Spray roses are miniature roses, with numerous blooms on a single stalk. The other flower type that has this variation is the carnation. The beauty of a spray rose is that each resembles an English garden because of the multiple blooms cradled by foliage. However unlike standard rose stalks, the spray-rose bush does not grow very tall, reaching approximately 50cm to 60cm in height. In spite of this, the spray rose is still a popular flower because it creates texture in a bouquet and centrepieces, and acts as a tasteful filler flower. Although it feels delicate, it is a hardy flower and often used for corsages and boutonnieres at weddings.
Basic care includes a fresh of water and a small snip of the stem daily. Like the rose, the spray variety also dries well. Just bundle it together and hang it upside down so that the blooms do not droop during the drying process.
Single variety flowers come wrapped in brown paper with a water bag. This ensures sufficient hydration for the flowers so that they remain fresh between the time it is put together and when the recipient receives it.
Here are the number of stalks you will find in each size:
Small — 6 stalks
Standard — 12 stalks
Large — 20 stalks
The spray rose is a short-stemmed to medium-stemmed variety, ideal for coffee tables, side tables or dining tables.
